A senior Iranian official indicated that Iran could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within days if Washington eased military pressure and lifted its blockade on Iranian ports. The partial unwinding of the recent oil rally underpinned equity markets.

Among financials, performance was mixed: Banco do Brasil and Santander retreated 1.4% and 0.6%, respectively, while Bradesco and Itaú advanced 1.5% and 0.2%. Petrobras gained 0.7% despite softer oil prices. Vale added 0.4% after confirming the acquisition of a 30% stake in Ligga, and Axia climbed 1.3%. The Ibovespa remained volatile throughout the session, as investors reacted to the Central Bank’s Copom minutes, which were interpreted as somewhat hawkish.
